The capacity to be alone is the capacity to know enough about yourself and who you are, and be comfortable enough with that. That way, when you are with another person, you’re not trying to make that person into somebody you need them to be in order to buttress a fragile sense of your own self. You can actually turn to a person and see them as another person, and have a real relationship with them.*

Fun thing to think about, but would it be the source of more panic or celebration?

The power of music
I have a guarantee.
If we spent a portion of this time on mostly political garbage instead on music and how we love it and how it has helped define the lives of us all - this land would be in a recognizably more harmonious and reasonable place.

The main reason the Donald is probably scoring so many votes is people just don't understand a failing and exceptionally tired system anymore. And it's too much effort to try to a degree. Anyways, some things always work - but even the smallest of things can take significant effort. Hence, a developed or established ethic. And a fraction of desire to learn from others.

STOP
Stray arrows.
People might be good, but we are very rarely "bad" by nature. It just isn't that way. We are more than likely something similar to arrows more straight or astray, especially when we have a mindset that as people constantly growing and changing - we aren't quite on a fixed path. Oh but how we desperately want it to be at times. And we cling and scrape, get down and up, and try so very hard - but this is not quite the natural flow or order of life or to be more specific with anyone who might (fortunately?) be reading this - it is not the natural order to being alive.
But it's weird or scary or really really hard to talk to one another about death and how we might not forever be here or etc. etc. etc. This is called confrontation of sorts, and it's the seed of truth for most things organic, natural, and good. Or it is the wellspring for more authentic health, revitalisation, knowing our spirit more closely (yes, you have one) and I guess for lack of anything better or more complex - living.
You're living. I'm living. The plant in one's home is living. The ant scurrying down the pavement is living. The dude I saw with cig in mouth who super carelessly tossed his smoke butt on the sidewalk - he is even living. This is not something meant to be argumentative.
There was a kid with a gun yesterday at a rural school who shot two others before being killed himself. Notice I am not stating the name or place although I call it my "top 3 favorite towns in the world" nor that I was standing on the same pavement he was killed 3-4 months ago because of this - it's the same or a highly similar story.
The media will helicopter in and out and meet a few people and incite some fear amongst the larger population because we have become so so so darn good at doing that so very well. Let's find out as much as we can about who did this. MONSTER. Bad family. How could this happen? Same questions, thoughts, and another pretty sad day for some families and local residents. Guess what, the kid is the only one who is dead. Yes. And his story needs to be heard far more than the typical chatter for a week or two before we go back to our same old goddamn business. Our overall consciousness is so terribly flawed, and it is even linked to the natural world believe it or not.
So when I contact my good friend from where this occurred and his reply is quickly "people are idiots," this is the kind of consciousness I am speaking of. (This is a great dude by the way) Without a dose of compassion, we are close to doomed. Or at minimum an understanding or a shift in how we think and attend to such events and the humanity involved in their unfolding. Humanity might be the most key word from this thing. Look it up, and try a little harder.
Best.

EVERYONE IS BOTTLING WATER
And we wonder how come the planet is boiling up. Let's ask the scientists..
I'm about 95% sure this economic act and means of making profit has had quite a lot to do with the planet getting lots warmer. Think about it. Our primary resource as humans (and what we are mostly composed of). We mine it from every single area (deplete resources in process have not doubt) and at times ship it around the world? This is not a head scratcher. And it is a true example of a place where a shutdown or "reversal" of a very poor system or structure would help us spin more "fluidly."
But anything for a buck?
Maybe

Your memory
More than likely it sucks or has gotten worse over the past 5-10 years. This is partly related to the #Inundationnation in which you live. So it isn't really your fault. But it is in part one's fault for not being more careful of where to devote attention. We do really still control our brains, even though it is getting so difficult! Magic or not, consider and act accordingly if possible. Voila!

News overload
How is it possible for most people to maintain sanity in the 48 hour news cycle in place? It's absurd.
We are going to face a time when we will get news before things even occur. This is no joke, we are already practically there.
Remember those days as a "kid" where imagination and play and all things wonderful reigned supreme? Well they can still be maintained, but best of luck.
My idea has been receiving what most call the news every other day. This makes plenty of sense. And it means shifts in workplace production and economic diagrams and blah blah blah, but welcome to the world the next 10 or so years. Those who can think this way and conserve resources and human health and production are going to be winners. We are close to having lost what could be known as the good 'ole days, primarily because we are being constantly hawked and everything and everyone is out for attention. Use that bean, those eyes, ears, and that imagination very, very carefully. Because if it's gone, it sadly is one's own fault. But the plus side is it can always be regained.
Just have to be aware.

Loneliness?
Since we learn quite well (and more personally) through contrast, being alone is not necessarily something of which to be scared. It may in fact be essential during various times :)
Doing no harm
In the counseling world or profession, it's common to operate under a "do no harm" clause.
In other words, in thinking about or justifying an action, we ask ourselves in any harm can likely be done as a result of a decision. Why don't we all act under this inquisition more often?
So for the rest or most of us, what is the harm that can be done as product of any choice?
So for the rest or most of us, what is the harm that can be done as product of any choice?
Since we often sadly pile up the possibilities of junk or assumptive negatives (that's an us problem), when we consider the likelihood of any negative REALLY happening, we find there to be fewer than we tend to believe in the first place. Then we can properly grow and even flourish more than before.
But we also get scared. And there isn't much justifiable reason for it. So try this self-talk one time?
It might actually work and clear off some unnecessary debris.
Merci
The case for variance
The best way to find out if we're wrong (or right) about something is probably to test it out. And this doesn't likely happen from sitting in one's home. Nor from doing the same or a very similar thing all of the time. Just a thought.

Metaphors III
I've come to learn it critical for us as people to think of ourselves in terms of metaphors at times.
Take a basketball. It's round, it bounces, and it need be filled with air in order to work properly.
If a basketball sits and is not used and doesn't rotate or spin or go through a basket on occasion...
Well, it sucks. And it is in some ways wasted. So freshen up. Spin around once in a while. Nobody or nothing is really stopping anyone. And our bodies and minds and spirits were not meant to just idle and/or rot or be filled with different ideas, behaviors, and stimuli.
It doesn't mean losing who one is necessarily, but added to it through rotations and a nudge or two.
So be a basketball. Or anything round for that matter. Truer living will likely be the result...

Level 7
Sometimes I find it enjoyable to think of things in terms of levels. We all know 1-10 scales and they are simple to wrap ourselves around. Take the trait or "skill" of durability for example. It is vital for some of us to be quite durable, and we all need work a little to obtain some more durability. Just like trees and not dissimilar from the forest concept. First of all, rating oneself in an honest manner is important. And if we know ourselves to be dishonest or embellishing at times (yes, we do) then asking for someone's help is key. If we can collectively strive to be near a 7 on a durability scale, we all pretty much win. When we overwork for a 10 or find ourselves at a 2 and feel terrible, we feel disconnected and things can become overwhelming. This also points to the power of the number 7. And not just because it was worn by Mickey :)
Better world, better world.
Gratitude
I find it interesting how even in a gratitude-infatuated culture to a degree, the majority of us misunderstand what being grateful means or the manner in which to cultivate gratitude in daily life. I like to think of things in an "it could be worse" proposition relatively often. Regardless of the turmoil or stress or needling struggles we can find ourselves within, it could be worse. Simply put, the air could be unbreathable or intolerable and we also could have no water to drink or with which to bathe and enjoy. Now THAT would be traumatic on the mind, body, etc..
Web
All is connected and all is nearly one. Remember that and take a look at a spinning globe if a visual is necessary. The Sun mainly has the world on a string and is throwing it around so it returns to close to the same spacial spot in 365 days. That is pretty fast. And your body resides on that sphere. No wonder it can be so damn hard to get a grip :) Loosen Up!

Compassion & fear
Here's the thing about compassion. People are neither compassionate or non-compassionate. Suffering is a part of the human experience. And to avoid suffering is somewhat synonomous with avoiding life. We all suffer, and a life long and well-lived seems to be guaranteed to have it's thorns and stumbles and even serious falls. A "clean" life is not necesary a full life and I guess it's my belief that we are all looking to live a full life in ways. It's the material that binds us all to one another. Yes, even those people we tend not to like or steer ourselves from. They share much more commonalities than differences on a human level, and at the end of the day we are all going to sleep as human beings. Argue with that point all one wants. Tigers are tigers. Same with bears. Our DNA somewhat makes us different and these tend to be enhancing, but not when they are improperly pronounced. This compassion thing in basic form is something shared. Even in a complex land, it need not be as much.
:)
:)
Solvent?
Companies have been tapping it for years, but it seems though thinking ourselves something non-human or semi-human is the primary way to address our root problems. That's kind of sad.

Simplification & a Cause for hope
Even in this chaotic mess, there still are probably two types of people in the world:
1. Those who think they make the sun came out.
2. Those who don't think they make the sun come out.
As you were..?
1. Those who think they make the sun came out.
2. Those who don't think they make the sun come out.
As you were..?
The importance of effort
Just a thought - sometimes the hardest flames to light are the ones that truly stay lit the longest.
Going4It
The breakdown and what I just wrote might be this: What does Going For It really mean to you? And does it mean anything different to you and the one next to you on the train or the highway or even in the adjacent cubicle? A small hint it that it probably doesn't at the root. And this is said in consideration that we will never ever most truly be our work, but we'll mostly be who we are. So even in striving for greatness in some mode, we will always have to be with ourselves and sit with ourselves and have an acceptance and/or appreciation for who we are and how we behave. This is important. And we're worthy of such a life. And our work or even something we do for 40 years won't likely completely give us such a state of being or recognition. It will and can give us many mechanisms and relationships to carry out what might even be a calling, but we will still need to be comfortable with who we are as people on a relatively deep level before our lives may happen to reach an end. This is pretty factual. And if it's not, anyone can be free to speak otherwise. This means knowing and valuing and saying "yes" to the fact that we already are worthy even before we assess our value based on what the majority of society may happen to discern. It's courageous. And it's equally graceful and beautiful. And it's the way the world as an entirely actually works and mainly wants you to be. So I guess if one has major trouble deciding for oneself, at least he or she can know that the planet or 1Home is counting on this..
:)
:)
Intention & the Truth
I have had this saying with myself for a long time along the lines of "the truth is the one thing that just can't quite be stopped." This said, it's important to think of the things in our life that are in ways unstoppable as well as those that indeed are halted - maybe time and time again. Many things truthful are likely related to emotions or "states of being" that relate to love, empathy, circular motion, etc. The thing to maybe be most cognizant of in this though is the fact that these are things that we most all know to be true. So isn't the truth binding? Or doesn't the truth in action spark something bigger, stronger, and more relatable for the greater good or even entirety of humanity. Especially this year and during what is the biggest load of bullshit election run in this country ever, we need to think this way more often and talk and behave accordingly. Thing is, time if of the essence in a manner we maybe have not seen or encountered before. There have been a myriad of social and natural crises leading to what I might deem a crux of judgment. The saddest thing (although it will improve) is that in this country, there is STILL continuous focus on old models and arguing and distraction from those things that the majority of us know and feel to be true in our hearts and minds. We want to believe but in many ways we can't and that is nothing more than a "people problem" or a humanitarian problem. So don't make excuses and blah blah blah as the time is now. Don't doubt that nor wait until another time to be on the right side of this life. This side involves the truth, it involves helping the planet, it involves speaking from the heart about this that matter, it's about believing in out own worthiness and deciding to act accordingly. It's about not thinking are dreams are just dreams and that this life is of something different. It's putting ourselves back in the shoes we wore as 6 or 7 year olds and friggin playyingg for a change. Stop being such an adult and believing there is no time for youth or feeling as though we are still young. "Getting older and feeling younger" is exactly how it should be, but that involves us being better and taking responsibility for the only thing, the 1 thing that was truly given to us - and that is in fact our Life. Settling and tuning in to the other side of such truth is a load of shit. And nobody else is going to make this change but you or me or he or she. It's an individual process and one that may take some help from others. But set some intentions to change for the better and become what will be more of the status quo of the future. There has certainly be a tipping point for some time, and the slide is likely in a way that need be swayed by power of plenty - plenty of doers, thinkers, believers, and those who can admit there's more to this life than the mundane and simply ordinary.
Have a good week.
Have a good week.

Strata
The pretty significant problem with living one's life completely within one strata, or socioeconomic class, or neighborhood, or etc. is that perspective becomes such a limited thing. In thinking, ideating, relating and piecing things together about the overall world and how one lives and functions within this place, this can be pretty confining. Probably not too much dissimilar than that of a jail cell or within a prison of sorts. If there's love and opportunity and little desire for anything more broad, I guess this isn't the biggest issue. Thinking mainly about those who grow up wealthy and stay in a predominantly "wealthy" lane, the ability to interact and see things through the eyes of the primary majority on this planet is quite small. This means something, I guess for us all.

How people think
If you were to ask someone what came to mind when thinking of JFK, what is the first thing that you would hear (or read in a text)? My guess is that it would be his assassination. Partly because it was devastating at the time and as humans, we tend to over marginalize bad or negative events in our minds. Call it the fear impulse, which is maybe stronger than the opposite lean but I am not quite convinced. We get stimulated by to what we give our attention, our synapses fire and neurons are developed this way. But neurons are dying and being re-devloped all of the time. Which means we can breathe easier when it comes to fear I suppose & consider where we are directing our eyes and ears.
Anyways, ramble but Kennedy did very many great things and the grief over his death had most to do with the kind of person he was from what I have learned. He had some indiscretions and flaws I suppose, but he ignited something in a body of people across a land that has not quite been done since.

Here's a personal truth about the GM money in particular. I have been keen on electric cars for some time. I happened to purchase a VW Passat w/ diesel engine because I knew and believed that lesser to no emission vehicles were the future. And this car was a beast. It taught me how to be a more careful and mindful driver related to fuel efficiency. I know VW cheated on emission tests and ultimately was vilified but it does not take away from the fact that the car had fantastic features. And it ran or hummed smoother than anything I had been in. Sure I drove extra-slow uphill and in vacant places, but I had it up to near 63 miles per gallon at one point. True story.
Anyways, zero-emission vehicles are even better and while there still is an environmental footprint, I have been exposed to enough car exhaust that my lungs and eyes sure to know there is almost no alternative unless somehow we all become less car-dependent. Since major changes and climate-friendly behavior is less likely for the majority, minus well again focus on the mechanism. Researching these Electric cars for some time, I looked up a Chevy Volt and it sounded ideal. Plus I would get to support an "American" corporation (even though they just started making SUV's over in China - talk about a footprint - hey let's ship parts and ship 'em back - anything to save some loot!). Well, I talked to a dealer in native Wausau and although one of the friendlier and more knowledgable dealers I had experienced, he knew very little about the Volt. He even volunteered to research for me to determine where I could see a car in a radius of 250 or so miles. You could probably guess, but there weren't any. Not a single one from to Madison to Milwaukee, maybe Minneapolis. Goofy. Something struck me as odd and the topic was almost hush-hush. I questioned further no doubt and said what I was looking for as a consumer and environmental steward - as we all need to be - but this person primarily said that I would be contacted when more information came to light. Fast forward to being in NY, and after watching so many around me suffer from poor air, I called GM offices. I chatted with a very friendly representative in Texas who in turn did some checking for me. She heard me out about my concerns about GM and the industry in general and how we seem quite far behind the 8 ball here. She kindly looked up where she could find the nearest volt to NY city and was having difficulty. Eventually a few were located - near 570 miles from town. Yep. That's a very long way and as goes with most everything, without access there exists very little opportunity.
C'mon GM. All of that money back in 2008 and far too little investment in future-focused technology and getting vehicles on roads friendly to the people, the oxygen, the planet. The thing is, Long-Range investment and policy and proper orientation does not exist in the eyes and minds of investors and those pulling such strings. Notice how I said eyes and minds because in hearts of hearts I would imagine there is quite a difference. Stand the you-know-what up.

Dopa+
What if I said that the act of seeing another person dispose of waste in a trash receptacle actually boosted dopamine or serotonin production in the brain. Personally I think this is true, and there likely aren't any studies out on the topic as of yet. We need chemists and brain scientists to publish more concrete bodies of work on daily things that in fact help increase secretion of these helping chemicals in the mind. With awareness comes intellect comes hopefully more action.

You know how when you search for something on youtube with quality and either 1. jokers have searched for something trashy or 2. youtube assumes one is looking for something trashy?
Yeah. But it's a good resource regardless.

No offense
And not to be a master of obvious, but the climate won't change until people alter their desires and/or choose and consume in a much more conscientious manner. We control the economy (supply/demand) so the manner the economy in ways disallows environmental improvement on larger levels, we are piloting that economy. Instead of fighting the power the time seems to have come to harness control of such power. It's possible.

If you're going to take a selfie, at the very least consider asking someone nearby as an alternative.
Let's not lose our humanity altogether.

Headline
The headline in the Wall Street Journal yesterday said "Economy chugs on despite fears."
Chugs is a fitting word. Watch the game of unsustainable rebounding continue and people with cash keep feeding people comments on how it's been seen before and etc. This is trash. And it won't be long before it crashes again, mainly because it's reliant on things that aren't lasting as it is. Maybe someone's following. But there are some idiots who do not have bigger pictures in mind divvying out these bits of "info." Don't believe it for a second. Or better yet, don't believe it and then do something as a consumer to put it in some other controls. I guess it basically is our own fault - which is the anomaly of it all.

The weather
We love to follow it, try to take some safety in "knowing" how it will be, depend on it's accuracy to a degree. While it might help shape our mood, our level of trust in it should not. Especially in an evolving climate of fewer seasons. Try being a meteorologist. Could be an extinct profession in some years. Try some love or trust or dependency on some other things ever-bountiful. But be on the lookout for major storms I guess.

K&C
Since kindness typically comes back around, it's a good idea to give one compliment this week. Or at minimum one can aspire to do this. Even with an aspiration, the action is so much more likely to happen. And if not this week, possibly the next. Put it in motion.

Gratitude
Just 1 thing to be grateful for each day, sun or sky or a person or a pet, or even eyesight or feet on which to more around. This is a recipe for much more good than not. Hooray

Little things repeated
The reason the climate is changing is because of behaviors like sitting in a running car or suv for minutes on end while staring at a cellular phone. Little things are very big but people have an extraordinarily hard time bending their minds in such a manner. Stay true
Also, google continues to change my words. Today it even tried to convince me that "likley" was how to spell the word "likely." (I won.)

Cruelty
Real cruelty is people making financial or business decisions knowing these same choices sacrifice the health and well-being of people they serve and the very planet on which they reside.

The truth about failure probably lies somewhere in here:
When one knows what can save him, he's more apt to know what also can make him.
When one knows what can save him, he's more apt to know what also can make him.
