Misguided

But excusable.

I just saw a headline in the La Crosse Tribune - which used to be my hometown newspaper - that read "Weapons of mass murder are our common enemy." It can be know where this is going, but people, yes people have in ways become our own "worst" enemy. One does not need have seen Happy Gilmore to understand that while these ever-available tools of destruction are indeed a cause for alarm, guns don't essentially kill people but human beings do. We have created a mind-numbing and heart-dulling culture in very many ways that has left more of us confused than not. While there are definitely advantages to such changes, sitting in our homes and trolling through the news in fear of another imminent attack on humankind won't be a part of the solution for as long as I'm living. Perspective shifting, activating, living with more compassion and solution-focused mentalities, these are the things that will help to put out this desperate fire - one individual at a time.

Have patience, but act with diligence.

Thanks

  1. Though I agree mostly with you, I do believe that the ease in which individuals are getting guns, needs to be evaluated too. Of course the person pulling the trigger is the real reason behind these mass killings, however there are some things outside of us being more compassionate, better, kinder people, that need to be looked at too...but mainly, finding our compassion with each other.
