Cultivation

It's necessary for us all to set some conditions for cultivation in our lives. Here's one and I'll call it the "smell it first" rule, or the SIF since been working in acronyms lately. Basically, whenever we eat or decide to put something in our mouths for consumption, take a small 5 second nose detour just to stretch out the sense of smell a little bit. On average, we are probably mainly conscious of two senses on a given day. The sense of smell is organic and a beautiful one. It filters into the sixth awareness of awe among other things. Somewhat indirectly, this is a mechanism for practicing patience, which we ALL suck quite badly at recognizing. Every 5 seconds simply turns into about one minute per day where we are working to "delay our brains," since when we look at it clearly - the lifespan is long anyways. Cultivate some patience today!
