Think a re-post, ah well

Which side are you on boi..

The video below points to an important principle.
How much will we be willing to "get out of ourselves" to a greater extent in the time lying ahead?
This means more thinking of the broader picture and choosing to act or respond accordingly.
We're lazy and we mostly suck at this process of shifting perspectives. And it's not our fault.
Think of what the moon sees on occasion. I call it the moonview. It's a simple practice.
When we actually notice (this takes effort somewhat sadly) the moon in it's changing glory, this is actually a giant first step. Just like the first step on it ha! Seriously, notice it first. I may be mistaken, but the way it shifts around the Earth and reflects/absorbs light from the Sun changes every single month in a manner that makes it full every 30 days. That's some elegant change.
Now, think of some of the ways we stay stuck and stagnant over this period of time in our own minds and bodies and lack of movement and whatever whatever. We don't commonly mirror the natural world that surrounds us. Yet we certainly come from nature and the most natural process.
Next, consider yourself on the moon looking back at Earth. It looks beautiful. And it looks beautiful probably from any vantage point. The moon keeps the Earth company like nothing else and it's actually pretty sweet. I guess in this mental transaction one can better realize or be aware of the certain "smallness" of our own existence. It helps to lessen and maybe eliminate fear and other self-defeating mindsets that discourage us to grow in the way the universe likely intended.
So shift a little bit. Your vision, your perspective, the belief of what's actually possible during the time or rotations of the Earth and moon. Because more simply, this is all that time really happens to be.

True trees

I keep coming back to this concept of trees or 'true trees.'
Primarily because if you've read some of what I have written, I am quite fond of trees.
And I have also expressed that we as people as not vastly different from the very things that make life  possible in many ways.
Anyways, there is something about a true tree or an "honest tree" that is fresh and liberating.
If we can bend our consciousness enough in a time of mounting non-nature related stimuli, we might get somewhere meaningful with this concept or one similar.
But our egos and needs and sometimes overly self-obsessive tendencies can get in the way of such thought. Even when something this simple can collectively do great amounts of good.
Who doesn't like honesty? Who dislikes or despises a tree? Unless it's "getting in the way" of a home project or power line (hey you chose to live there and probably weren't there first), then it is pretty implausible to have ill will towards a tree or trees. Hopefully one likes breath regardless of how tough a day or week or year has been.
These are uniting and simple and naturalistic concepts. And if we defeat or keep trying to separate ourselves from nature, we are caught up in a game where we are a miserable loser and separate again from what it means to actually be a human being.
Some thoughts and thanks for attending

Attention and responsibility

All of that attention we're giving Trump, the fascination, the complaining (rightfully so, at times), those are choices we as individuals are choosing to make. Sure it's appetizing and a fine distraction sometimes, but better believe he probably knows that more than anything. Call it feeding the beast, whatever we like, but we each are responsible for what we give our attention to. And there are repercussions and ramifications to most every even minor decision. Please consider

The peril of avoiding pain is most certainly the less one's gain. - Anonymous

allll the dudes

and

Action is your friend, along with practice being your friend. It's somehow self-defeating in how the word "practice" can receive a negative connotation. Without some sort of repetition, the little neurons just can't quite stick together as needed. And we all have those neurons - each and every one of us. They are probably a little bit like a root system of a tree or plant. We don't fully see their brilliant sharing work, but it indeed happens. And the more sharing and cross-nurturing that occurs, the better off the tree or plant will be equipped to face natural and unnatural challenges.

I guess the point is this - call a practice whenever you want and don't sit by so often waiting for another to bring one together. I guess this is the beauty and simplicity of life. There's a network of neural fiber in our mind just waiting to be solidified and mapped out - and it ain't too late to learn or change.

Thanks

Sun.

Kids, Health, and Longevity

It's important to know - and not just for parents but for everyone - that the body doesn't learn how to deal with stress until it is actually under duress. I feel I have said this before know while writing. Anyways, people aren't dissimilar from trees, and that's a good thing. When we work (sometimes tirelessly) to remove sources of "stress" and sweep a clear path for our youngsters, that can run counteractive to some of the principles of good health and quality living. Pressure's not all bad. That's on a biological and psychological or physiological level.

The counter

A fun and energizing play in soccer and also in life.

Piece of advice

It's important to know and understand that "anything faint is better the anything that ain't."

Here's a question

If we didn't have counterterrorism and homeland security and billions of dollar investments in protections, would terrorist acts have just been rampant by now? Would there be more explosions and implosions than what we have seen, especially recently?
Is there any small way we could have elevated the fear and given rise to power by our own action?
Something to consider.

Good test

Time is an interesting thing. It is part figment and part actual and it's quite perception-dependent.
I like to think our relationship with it is 1b in this life as it is most everything we have.
How we choose to spend it depends on a lot of things, and this is primarily up to us.
There are plenty of reasons it might not be, and there are plenty of emotions within that web, but boiling it down to a soul and freedom and things the majority of us seek out of a lifetime, this is a tie that most definitely binds. We all want mainly the same things. Talking about a lot of things otherwise is not only somewhat of a waste of time but it actually is fragmenting and this hurts us on a societal level.
We're looking for progress, we're looking for a better life for ourselves, for our kids and other kids. Our attention to these facts is so key and a very strengthening thing. The distractions will come, but they will indeed go away even after returning again and again and again. This is the soul at work.
Today, try something out. Sit somewhere for 10 minutes and just look around. No phone, nothing.
Pretty much observe the surroundings and yourself. This was commonplace even 10 years ago, but today it is not so much. That is called rapid change and it has happened on a very large level. We all know the reasons for it, and thus we mainly know how to again seize control of our time and health and more of who we want to be.
I used to say to myself "Be aware, go from there." It may sound corny, but if you are reading this, you know it to be true on even a minor level. There is a problem though. We don't partly even know where to go anymore, and this is because of a lack of awareness. When the first thing doesn't happen, so does confusion, and many forms of escape, and some even choose to escape this life altogether. It happens. And it doesn't "just happen" or become just another headline because there are reasons for it. There are reasons for everything most of the time.
So make use of what we have, and if not for oneself hopefully for those within one's surroundings.

Potential

It's interesting and a little sad how the word "exercise" has turned into an almost evil word.
Part of this is of course due to corporate America and the onslaught of messages people receive.
Typically, we don't like that too much.
All exercise really is is blood flow. Or getting our blood to flow to all segments of our body.
Toes, fingers, head, everywhere - this is how come we feel good or a "high" when we move around.
But it gets complicated by so much push and pressure and somehow we feel "less" for not moving.
Think about this, our blood content makes up about 7% of our actual body weight. Yes 7 percent.
If all of that weight is stagnant or not flowing, this affects all our organs and especially our brain.
Welcome to depression and chronic this and chronic that.
Not to minimize these things, but c'mon. A lot more is in our power than we might choose to believe.
So be well, this day and every day.

Hieroglyphics "You Never Knew"

Having 32 rolls of Cottonelle delivered to your door is an example of behavior that is not conscientious nor is it in any way good for the environment. Oh the absolute power of the consumer..

All looking for it

We're all looking for it to varying degrees, but patience is a thing that needs to be cultivated. Quite frankly I am a little worried about it's extinction and the ramifications for man, woman and planet

But it does matter

Next time we find ourselves in the self-convincing game of things "not mattering" or being relatively unimportant, challenge that. It is an essential thing in regards to health and self-actualization. When we counter with continued but it does matters, then we can better activate and find ourselves becoming more of the people we want to be. Also know we partly think or feel that way based on our company, relationships, or messages we hear from the media cloud that seeks to follow us to every corner. Judging or shaming oneself illuminates a problem that is not solely within our being.

Know that the brain is nothing more than a muscle and repetitions are vital. This process is no different than curls or crunches or lunges - it's just that we sadly don't value our minds nearly enough as a whole. Trees are strong primarily because they've been bent, drenched, tested, and also hit with glimmering rays of light. We're like that too :)

The Head and the Heart - Homecoming Heroes

True Scales

I keep coming back to this thing in my head called True Scales. Essentially, most of the methods by which we use to "measure" ourselves are predominantly illusory. Weight, age, economic bracket, gpa, scoring average, etc. While these things for sure matter to some degree, as a society we give them far far too much measure when it comes to determining the value of people. The value of people is nearly infinite, and that is the coolest thing ever. But marginalizing is many times non-beneficial and tends to be a deep cause of a great many ills. We're better, prettier, wiser, and more able than we think we are. This is a fact. So, it is time to determine more true or genuine scales for ourselves and one another. Don't just sit by and allow many others and monetary structures to dictate how we feel. Because too man of us have suffered and often times died as result of such a system. Re-definiton is not just one of the best songs and beats of all time but it is also a manner in which to live or choose to live. Get with it.

As an example, here is how the social economy works: Someone asks "how old are you?" Most immediately, something happens in our own minds where we define or just feel we are "old." What the fuck is that? Seriously. People are 80 right now who are hitting the gym, loving life, making love maybe better than 35 year olds. Get with the program and think about how we communicate. And this is proof that yes we are in this boat with more people than we are likely comfortable with  :)

Honesty

Thinking a little further about choices, the most paramount thing about honesty is that it exists as an action that we all can make at every point in time. This is the root or definition of true power. No doubt that's a choice..
:)

Fear/Choice/Opportunity

We live in bubbles.
Some we have great choice over, others not.
When this place becomes one bubble (it basically is), how equipped will we be to serve, help, or do what is necessary for the sustenance of us all? By us all, I mean you and the fellow man, woman and animal.
We get scared. But some who aren't as scared help us be less scared. We learn. We live, and hopefully grow. This type of fear or fear of what could be or might be is not going to win anything.
Our choices in the here and now and our awareness and trust in the power we each have as individuals to influence change is what will win. This is something that's non-stop. A winning force, forever.
The problem is though, in this climate of living, it is in a somewhat obtuse way becoming more confusing of convoluting in how we as individuals or smaller collectives can have much pull with a vibrant electronic network of activity. It's termed a "new age" but many don't quite know what or how to make of it. It's double-edged, like a lot of things.
Harnessing is probably the key word. Because is we can't harness, then we have to learn. And if we can't quite associate, we become trapped or doomed or voiceless. But I'm glad to know I have heard or witnessed those without voice make even a peep after extensive periods of silence.
This is the essence of hope.
Quite a ramble, but I guess the intention was that choice - and choice by people - is what will dictate.

Thanks to the way that things have mostly been done, the time has past in which a business can be a truly good business without additionally being good for the planet.

1, 2, 3

Call 'em consumption strategies, or things we can do now to protect the future planet. We may be forced to action in the next 10-20 years anyhow, so nothing wrong with an early start :)

1. Cut out the usage of all or most plastic carrying bags.
2. Refrain from running water in the home except when totally necessary.
3. Do not sit in an idling car for extended time periods (unless below 0 degrees).
4. Last and my favorite!, pick up minimum of one piece of garbage per day.

The philosophy on the last one is this. We clean up our own homes. We might do this once a year - hopefully not - during the spring, but we tidy them up. When we step outside, the planet is our home's home. So I guess it is a little like taking care of one's grandmother or father because they are parents of one's own. Hope you understand and more necessarily act.

What's true

Additionally, know that the things most true or life-giving are typically circular rather than linear.
Just like the globe
And it's moving, both inside and out.

Visualization

It's key, and I am actually somewhat scared it is getting lost in the data and time-filling obsessed culture in which we live. Here's a question: what happens when things that were at one (recent) point in time natural or "given at birth" become things that are needed to be learned? This is the point of altered evolution, and it is even something we mostly have entire control over. It's ironic, but true.

Anyways, try something out. The next time you see gas/exhaust coming from an idling car (even 30 minutes!!!), picture that stream as directly entering a clean cloud on a typically nice day. This is called a transaction of mind and it's important. Although we see and mostly live in the here and now, it does not mean there is no longview. And even if you/we have difficulty with this, at the least understand that this exhaust is entering the lungs we use to survive every day of the week. Whichever is easier to envision, know that one is always better than none. And maybe that the planet's features are no different from very own..

Propositionss

It could be more complicated but it really isn't.
In life, we make choices.
Some things are what I call winning games and others are not winning games.
Since time is money, who we choose to spend time with impacts us. By us I mean our mind/body/spirit/growth potential.
We weren't born to just be still and not move and possibly shrivel.
Trees don't behave that way. And they need certain things to grow. And these are remarkably simple.
Sticking in relationships (all kinds) for very long periods of time - maybe even decades - when we know in our belly or core that they are limiting our movement towards the sun is hampering.
And if we don't want to be "selfish" about it since we are so bad at doing things often for ourselves, think about whomever we are somewhat attached.
That ball and chain that we are tied to is also tied to the other person.
So free them too. And then you even get to find yourself free.
This is a win-win, actually.
And that is pretty sweet when humanity is the biggest winner. Forget about you two.
:)

Mos Def - Mathematics

Last piece

When we think of things in terms of the lifespan - meaning there is a time when we are born and a time when we are no longer alive - is it ever really too late?
The answer is, get ready, probably not until one is dead.
I know there is a lot of fear and messiness and much to overcome in there, but this is the truth.
And it is probably best to not wait (if able) until one is 80 to figure that out.
We can run or not, and most of us are on the hamster wheel somewhere in between.
And that hamster wheel looks like a globe. With a ton of water on it.
I guess this is how come it's so called a "rat race?"
But we definitely aren't rats. And if we live that way, that's pretty sad at the root isn't it?
Especially when we probably only get one go-around.
........

Guppies/bigger fish

A word from the partially wise - don't be dumb.
This could be a driving factor in most of our behavior, coast to coast and sea to sea.
And when I am talking about behavior, I mean just that.
It we are dumb and we think this way yet don't act dumb, this is actually not that bad.
Because at the very least we know the difference.
And that's something. We should give ourselves credit for that.
When we act dumb, we indirectly cause others to act dumb. And then we look dumb.
And when we look dumb, I am talking about human beings. Yes humans.
We are roaming the Earth right now, yet we certainly didn't always.
Yet we forget and choose not to think that way hardly ever.
This is very problematic. And this type of thinking and believing is at the root of a whole many ills.
Can you imagine if somebody with a prominent voice talked about dinosaurs and how we are quite connected to them on emotional and cognitive levels?
And we dig up their bones (they are everywhere, by the way) yet we hardly ever stop to think that dinosaurs existed on this very same land. And a land and sea and sky that's definitely in constant fluctuation.
So, don't be dumb. And if you feel you may be dumb, ask for help to not be dumb.
It is not complicated, it is in fact extraordinarily simple.
But it does involve relating to others. And typically not through a screen or silly phone.
These contacts are actions but they can be inconveniently handicapping too.
And if you haven't seen The Good Dinosaur, check that out. There are some good bits in there.
Reach out. Talk. Say something truthful. Because at the end of each day, the good majority of us go to bed still being quite close to this truth. This is saying something. At least for now.

Not a bad idea

It's not a bad idea to take 2 things we feel unable to live without (or have grown accustomed), eliminate those 2 things from our daily routines for one week, and then resume normal activities at the end of this period. This is called changing the brain and cultivating gratitude. It is very simple, and it is very effective. At the end of a time - and not just lent - our habits may in fact evolve as we learn and understand what are those true life-giving and essential components of being alive and well.

Coastlines

When we think about it, the margins that separate us are becoming smaller and smaller.
If we want to take something that we reallly like to give attention to, look at the weather.
While was plenty of buildup, 2015 is probably the year the US Northeast became the Southwest.
That's a long ways, or it used to be a long ways.
We're closer than some of us might find comfortable, but it is definitely the new normal. Don't need a meteorologist (or Weather man!! :)) to tell anyone that.

Are we?

Are we being set back or propelled forward by the state of this political grandiosity?
While (maybe) paying attention, it's probably important to give this consideration. Especially now.
I know one thing - the men involved (loosely used) remind me close to nothing of Lincoln, Washington, Jefferson, Truman, King, Teddy, Hamilton, etc.
This probably counts for something, but then again maybe not.

The importance of stamina

The most critical part of any real change is admitting there is a problem to begin with.
In all likelihood, this means the admit/accept process happens for many consecutive days.
Who really wants to do that?
People who have learned and know the importance of perseverance, stamina, or that good things eventually come to someone or something with a level of care and devotion.
And we all need to learn that.
All of us.
And those who know need to share, through words (texting!!) but most importantly through action.
This is the human economy.
It has the power to kill us or make us make us more whole, and that's a wonderful thing.
Through all the file sharing, emoji sharing, selfie sharing, etc. work to remember this.
Yes work to remember this.
Because we are in age of excess where remembering actually takes sincere effort.
Act accordingly.
And if you want the change (hey America, Wall St., climate talks), at least strive to be the change.
This quote will stand the test of time, unlike dinosaur leadership tactics.
Cutting this off.

Creativity

Creativity is possibly most appropriately defined as the things one can do on zero to little budget.

Take a minute

It's not a bad idea to take one minute out of each day to think about one's dreams and how these might (still) be accomplished. I mean, maybe they won't but that simple act of intending or focusing on what we know to be true within ourselves causes a ripple not too dissimilar from a plate movement in the Earth. So many of us just forget, or get tired, or feel and believe it is not worth it. EVEN with this said, the very most of us still know it to be true in our bones. That's saying something. And that is the thing we call true power.

1 minute. That's all.
If there is an excuse for that, then there's an excuse for a whole mess of things.
And no shaming! No one is ever really blaming you, that's just your mind playing tricks on itself.
:)

Cata$trophe?

It's sad that in all of these hollywood-style events regarding a presidency, there's next to zero talk about things unifying.
We're all fish, guppies even, latched to our remotes or mouse pads just waiting for the next prank.
It might be comical for some instances, but in the long run it's terribly problematic.
If we have kids, it might be even scarier.
And don't kid yourself, these are money-making "events" in front of our own eyes.
Go to any middle/high school debate group and learn the root premises for a debate.
They are not on display between these so called "men" who are working to lead what was previously a powerful and very influential place.
Don't get hooked. And even if you're hooked deep down in your throat (I've seen/maybe saved some fish similar), you still aren't a goner. That alone is something to be thankful for on a Monday.
Do something important this week.

Might be said a lot

It might be said a lot, but we are in part who we choose to surround ourselves with.

Fracking

You know that guy that mainstreamed "fracking" in the US? He dead.
Not to be insensitive, and I understand about the proposed benefits (loosely used), but c'mon.
Another fad in creating what is a mostly unsustainable source of energy goes bust.
And the face/person behind the whole thing decides to actually disappear.
You see what is going on here?
And the whole fracking trend is from what I'm reading a primary cause of the economic disaster.
There's a sun up there, look how it is simply defined on wikipedia. It will take 2 seconds to check.

Read up on fracking too. Injecting material - not all organic - into rocks. Yes rocks. The ones that have been in place for centuries and far longer than we have. It's scary and the increased amount of small earthquakes on the east coast could be directly connected. Yes, directly connected. Don't believe the lies and money-induced hypocrisy. The Earth, the planet, the One Home will tell the truth far more times than not.

Nas - Get Down

20-minute rule

If we are looking at a screen for over 20 minutes at a time, this is probably unhealthy. Sure there are requirements and things to get done, but sacrificing one's eyesight is never a good idea either. Those artificial light rays are actually penetrating right to your mind too.

I have and still like to get up and focus elsewhere for say 5 minute intervals before returning to a task at hand. It also trains our bodies to move around and not stay in hibernation which is good for us along with those around us.

We're all swimming in the same pool.

Thanks.

Fashawn - Something To Believe In

FASHAWWNNNNN

Re-post (and a favorite:))

John Mayer - Wheel

3x5

For those who like to make lists of priorities or things to do, it's a nice tool to keep them small and include your health in them every single time. This reinforces what is most important and the "forgetting" or failure excuse then doesn't quite work :)

Here are some examples, for any typical day:

1. Lunch meet with Rhonda
2. 9 am work call/meeting
3. Take bike to shop for fix
4. Walk dog(s)
5. My health!

1. Finish taxes
2. Get to work on time!
3. My health

These are a little cheesy, but I've learned rules of 3's and 5's can be handy both athletically and mentally.

Low & behold

I came across an article!
http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/aug/21/patience-is-form-of-power-oliver-burkeman

Without some resolve/stamina/care it may slowly age-away too wink wink

Munchies

With high speed everything and the casual death of things slow, what happens to patience?
Is it just gone?
Is it still a virtue?
Was it ever virtuous and how come?
It's a new world in ways, but we're still responsible for keeping some things alive.
Don't forget.
:)

Big differences

While we might not be what we eat, we most certainly are what we consume.

Formula

For a life well-lived may go like this:

1. Strength
2. Patience
3. Kindness

It's interesting how they go together though, huh?
And if #2 is really tough (6 second attention spans!!?), work on that.

It means next to nothing

Regardless of climate talks 2015
Or Leo's chatter on a hyped Sunday night
Or anything little that I write here
It all means next to nothing if YOU/WE/US are not exactly willing to make changes as individuals related to our consumption as human beings.
We all consume. Daily. And in very many forms.
This is mainly how it boils down.
Ride a bike to work.
Move close to your job if possible for a short commute?
Compost some soil and give back to the Earth in your direct proximity.
Look at a tag on a shirt you buy and resist things shipped from anther part of the globe.
Take one or two less showers per week (rubbing water on your skin gives a similar sensation..).
There is much we all can do.
So quit feeling and more importantly acting so powerless.
If we don't change now - or how about this year - we may not earn many more opportunities.
How would that be?

Hey!

Isn't this great weather we're having???
Don't be an idiot.

"The Mediterranean is one of the areas that is unanimously projected [in climate models] as going to dry in the future [due to man-made climate change]," said Yochanan Kushnir, a climate scientist at Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, who was not involved in the research. "This paper shows that the behavior during this recent drought period is different than what we see in the rest of the record," he said, which means that the Levant region may already be feeling the affects of human-induced warming of the planet.

2020

Hopefully we recognize that who is elected in 2020 will be near 5x more important than this year.

Metaphors

How would you feel if you went two weeks with no shower?
(Many people actually know this feeling quite well)
Now imagine the Earth sustaining this pace without a proper cleanup.
In the relation between Earth and human, I put it at about 2 weeks and no bathe.
Things get pretty desperate at a month, don't they..?

How We See It

These are called double-whammies.
First, you smoke the cigarette.
Then, you throw the remaining cigarette on the ground.
Here's the question: Is this 2 minute sequence worse for your body or worse for the planet?
I don't see it as being any different at all.
In fact, here's actually what happens in the brain and body.
We catch ourselves thinking about our litter and we don't do it anymore.
This "switch" in brain activity and "depersonalization of care" actually ripples inward.
We then think more about the planet on which we live and better care for our own selves.
It is not a separate thing. And its actually an immensely powerful transaction of mind.
But you won't read or hear about it many places.
:)

Attesting

I did 15 minutes of exercise this morning and my body/mind/spirit certainly knows the difference.

The other true thing

If we can't immediately do one true thing for ourselves, I've found that the other true thing can be just as essential. For example, if we seek 30 minutes to rock or work our bodies yet are stuck in wonderful traffic! - listen to a favorite stretch of songs or give a call to a friend we may have not been in touch with for some time. This keeps a type of momentum going and is satiating in the interim. This is quite important.

Or bike or move :) :) to a destination and this is just as satisfactory.
